Evlox celebrates World Water Day together with EASD Castellón

World Water Day 2022 was the date chosen for the presentation of the new ‘H2.0 Project’, in which the students of the School of Art and Design (Castellón) presented a live performance (Impromoulage) featuring an exhibition of 11 textile design projects inspired by water and the United Nations 2022 slogan “Groundwater: Making the Invisible Visible”, using only denim fabrics under the philosophy of ‘Aquasave by Evlox’.

The event was held in the old cloister of the school on 17 March and forms part of the “unwater.org 2022″ activities. At the same time as the performance, there was a talk on the current challenge of teaching within the paradigm of sustainable fashion design. Supported by the ADCV’s “in circular” laboratory, and organised by the Research Professor Specialising in Fashion Design, Alicia Bonillo. The informative event introduces us to the fourth sector and the problem of the water footprint in global textile production.

The participating students are: Josep Alafont, Andrea Beltran, Francisco Cárdenas, Jorge Clemente, Alba Garcés, Carolina Giménez, Mariam Kurtsikidze, Roberto Marco, Virginia Núñez, Oscar Segovia, and Lola Vicent.

WHAT IS IMPROMOULAGE?

It is the art of creating shapes without preparation.

Students organised a live show called Impromoulage, consisting of shaping fabric over a mould. This was a good way of sharing the philosophy and the principles of the E-Care by Evlox collection among visitors and student visitors at the performance where it was possible to experiment, step by step, by creating the most sophisticated silhouettes from scratch, working from a single piece of denim fabric, using pins stuck directly into the mould.

AQUASAVE BY EVLOX

Evlox has several sustainable projects in the fabric manufacturing process to help minimise the environmental impact of its work. ‘Aquasave by Evlox’ represents one of these commitments by the company to guarantee water conservation for future generations. This can be seen in a combination of processes that guarantee fast decolouration in the wash, recycling and reduction of water consumption or heat energy, reducing water consumption to zero during the fabric dyeing process.

In a context where almost 700 million people are suffering from water shortages, the saving generated by these initiatives throughout the process (not only during the dyeing process) represents around 50 million litres of water per year. In most European countries, this figure would guarantee a person’s daily use for approximately 13 years. Setting up initiatives such as ‘Aquasave by Evlox’, in addition to its environmental aspect, allows the company to make significant cost savings due to the fall in waste management and water and heat energy consumption.

WORLD WATER DAY

World Water Day is held on 22 March each year. It is an annual United Nations event, which began in 1993, and celebrates water and raises awareness about the two billion people currently living without access to safe drinking water. A central focus of World Water Day is to inspire action towards Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6: Ensure access to water and sanitation for all by 2030.
